MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
Membership of the American Chamber of Commerce provides a number of practical commercial benefits. A key objective of the Chamber is to provide access to the right people and the right information at the right time – and we do this in very specific ways. You do not have to do business in the USA to become a member or benefit from membership.
Our members expect to increase business as a direct result of their membership.
Business Connections
AmCham is the premier business organization in South Australia, attracting first rate speakers, panelists and panel chairs to its events. We are committed to facilitating business opportunities between our members and the broader business community. Active networking is promoted at every event.
Events
AmCham Business Luncheons are highly regarded for the outstanding production, the imaginative cuisine, and the superb wines, often from some of smaller yet outstanding vineyards. We are also known for the strength of the talent we bring to our audiences.
You will receive first notice of upcoming events and thus priority booking privileges. This is important when some of our events have sold out. You will receive complimentary invitations to at least four (4) Networking Events during the year.
Member discounts
You will receive a significant discount at AmCham events, representing excellent value for members or your guests. Some events are complimentary to members — networking cocktail parties at unusual locations; the AmCham Xmas Party at the Hyatt which was attended by over 200; more intimate breakfasts and boardroom luncheons with visiting dignitaries or public figures. Please ask for recent examples.
Company promotion
Upon joining as a member you will be formally and publicly welcomed as a member, if you wish, at the next Industry Series Luncheon you attend. If you advise us of any major success or change within your organisation, AmCham will publicly acknowledge this at an event, time and topic permitting, providing good exposure for your organisation. If possible, it will also be mentioned in AmChat — the professional Newsletter that is distributed at each Luncheon or the online Newsletter, eChat.
AmCham Online Newsletter, e-Chat
This has now gone live as of 18 April 2007. Members will be eligible to use this service to provide details of their organisations to our large database.
Preferred seating and guest lists at events
We actively engage speakers who will attract senior people from major organisations. This gives you the opportunity to introduce yourself and your services in an informal setting. If you contact us one week before an event and let us know who you would like to sit with we will do our best to facilitate. This will optimise your time at the event.
In addition, members only can request a 'guest list' that includes names and titles of those in attendance, in advance of the function. This is an invaluable tool for planning your time at the function and subsequent follow up.
Members Only Events
AmCham is proud to host special members' only events throughout the year. These functions may include the U.S Ambassador to Australia or other leading dignitaries, especially, but not necessarily, from the United States.
US/Australia Trade Directory
The Trade Directory includes both a comprehensive list of all national and state members, and the most complete listing of US companies operating in Australia. As a member you receive a free listing in the Trade Directory and a free copy, which is an invaluable marketing tool. If you wish you can include a logo, photo or advertisement for a minimal cost.
American Australian Business
This official AmCham publication is prepared and published in Australia. It highlights business activity in all parts of Australia, and is available free of charge to members.
Access to AmCham's unique member database
You can work with AmCham to use our database to conduct a focused direct marketing campaign to key decision-makers (see note at end). This can both save you money and generate income.
Interstate and International Membership
Your membership is recognised by our interstate offices for events and use of facilities. This means that when you are traveling and do not have a local office you can access our Boardrooms in business hours (subject to availability).
Membership of AmCham Australia also gives you honorary membership of AmChams in 22 countries in the Asia Pacific.
Business and Trade opportunities
We are regularly approached by US companies looking to do business in Australia and seeking relevant business partners. Also, our Australian members often request introductions to organisations that may be able to provide a particular service. We endeavour as far as possible to match these requirements with capabilities of our members.
Special Alerts and Bulletins
You will be among the first to receive special email updates on issues such as Security, the USA/Australia Free Trade Agreement, and commercial opportunities such as those arising with the reconstruction of Iraq.
